The intensive and wide-ranging work of the Diocese of West Texas in global mission will be the topic of the first Mission Thursday of the fall season sponsored by the Global Episcopal Mission Network.
The one-hour webinar on Thursday, Sept. 26, will be held at 1pm Eastern Time on Zoom (10am Pacific, 11am Mountain, 12 noon Central). Attendance is free. Register here.
West Texas, which has a fulltime diocesan mission department, has nine mission partnerships around the world, located in Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya, Mexico, Lakota, Navajoland, Puerto Rico and Uganda, often with several ministries in a single nation. Multiple mission teams are sent out each year.
Catherine Markette, ministry coordinator for the World Missions Department, will be presenting on Mission Thursday alongside other team members. Here’s a link to the department’s webpage.
The department offers periodic Mission Cafés featuring mission leaders, particular ministries, and challenges of mission in such locations as Ukraine. The department has created a four-week world mission curriculum for children, “Jesus Loves the Little Children,” and a Short-Term Mission Handbook.
Come to Mission Thursday to hear about these initiatives and more!
