Companion Diocese:  Since 1996 the companion diocese relationship has been with El Salvador (renewed at Convention, November 2003.) For the past nine years a medical mission team has made an annual week-long trip to work with a Salvadoran doctor, dentist and ophthalmologist conducting health clinics in six remote villages seeing upwards of 200 patients a day.

The chairman of the Companion Diocese committee also takes a group of adults on a pilgrimage to El Salvador every year. Through all of the above activities more and more people in our diocese are feeling a commitment to and share the joy of the relationship.

There are a number of people in the diocese who are  working toward a relationship with the Diocese of Haiti.  No specific plans are in place yet.

Mission in the Diocese of Central New York:

The Global Mission Committee is working on promoting the MDGs.  The diocesan convention voted to give .7% of our budget for MDGs. That money is being offered to the parishes to match whatever they raise to address one or more of the MDGs.

Missionaries from the Diocese of Central New York:

We continue to send a medical mission team to El Salvador every year. A team of doctors, nurses, dentists and sometimes an optometrist visits five villages during a week's time there.

The Rev. Virginia Doctor serves in Alaska.
