Companion Diocese:

Our biggest success is The Carpenter's Kids program with the Diocese of Central Tanganyika.  We are seeing more and more parishes linking up.  Parishes are going beyond sponsoring the children, to buying cows for parishes that produce milk for the chidren; we are looking beyond elementary school to high school education. The cost to sponsor a child is $50.00.  There have been visits to and from this Diocese.

There is a continuing parish link relationships with the Diocese of Matlosane (formerly Klerksdorp) in South Africa involving AIDS ministry, pre-school and after school programs and the completion of a $200,000. endowment for that Diocese.

There is a Diocesan partnership with the Diocese of Madras, India including visits, student exchanges, and support for the Dalits (untouchables) in their struggle for liberation through conscious raising the UN and the government.

The Christian Church of China has invited the Diocese to form a partnership for the support of theological education and mutual understanding. There have been visits as this partnership begins.

Christian/Muslim relations continue with local dialogues and the raising of funds to re-build a mosque in Afghanistan.

A number of congregations in the Diocese are involved with the Diocese of Haiti in general support and relief work. Commission co-chair, Dr. White made a visit to Haiti and met with Bishop Duracin.  She is encouraged by the continuing dialogue and collaboration.

Missionaries from the Diocese :

The Rev. Stephen Choi served as a Volunteer in Mission in migrant ministry in the Diocese of Seoul, Korea.

Bishop Roskam has organized a project to support clergy wives in Uganda.

The Rev. Petero Sabune and other Ugandan clergy of the Diocese have organized an annual celebration of Uganda Martyrs' Day which includes consciousness raising about Christian Commitment.

Missionaries to the Diocese  :

As a Diocese of immigrants, immigration is one of the major issues of "receiving." There are a number of immigration projects in the Diocese.

Missionary activity in the Diocese :

A number of their partner Bishops, clergy and lay leaders have done preaching missions and educational programs in the Diocese. The latest was Bishop Devasahayam of the Diocese of Madras.
