In 2004 and 2006 Iowa made trips to Swaziland which was reciprocated by them in 2005 and 2006. Dr. TR and Stevie Shively became coordinators of the Swazi Companions network in 2007.

In 2008 the Rev. Mhlada Kunene, a Swazi priest, began to serve as priest for three small parishes in rural southwest Iowa. He has energized a high level of commitment to Swazi Companion relationship.

Distribute and train rural villagers to use 60 water chlorinators.  Dr. Shively provided dental checkups/care at St. Augustine

A team of Iowans, including Bishop Alan Scarfe and his wife Donna, traveled to Swaziland in October 2008 to celebrate the Anglican Diocese of Swaziland's 40th anniversary.

Iowa continues to support education by funding school fees for Swazi children. In addition the Bishops of Brechin, Iowa and Swaziland have arranged to fund a Swazi Development Officer who will monitor and facilitate project operations in which the three dioceses are coperatively involved.  In early 2009, Mr. Albert Dlamini was named by Bishop Meshack Mabuza to this position.

The diocese funds MDG projects through International Development Grants each year. In January 2009 two priest in the diocese proposed and began working on a supplemental approach of study workshops in tying the MDGs to living out the church's mission.
